The projects we design are functional with minimal maintenance.
- We know what elements need to be present for fish to grow and
flourish and how to build them into a lake or stream so that
they work for years without further intervention.
- We understand what kinds of materials will last and remain
functional without deteriorating and where and how to use them.
- We build structures that can withstand seasonal changes in the
aquatic environment without being washed away or eroded excessively.
- We ensure that all of our work is interactive.
- We build areas for all age classes of trout, from spawning areas
to microenvironments for fingerling,
young trout and adult trout.
"Our systems are designed to be passively driven using the energy of wind,
sun, head pressure, and biological elements to minimize maintenance."
We understand aesthetics. We know how to build a project that looks
natural and blends in with the surrounding environment. Our work
mimics nature and artfully interprets the environment surrounding our
projects. The materials we use to build aquatic habitats are naturally
occurring or are so versatile in use that once in place they are not
visible yet extremely functional. We understand that when a project
is completed it is best if you never knew we were there.
"There is nothing more satisfying than when a project is complete and one can hear
the splendor of a flowing stream and sit and enjoy the solitude of a shady lakeside retreat."
Aquatic Alternatives has well over one hundred-year's worth of experience with
Salmonids.
- We have been involved with the trout industry long enough to
understand both the benefits and the problems that trout hatcheries
have brought to management schemes.
- We understand why the present fisheries management paradigm exists
and what can be done to take the next step.
- We have been taking that step for over fifteen years by doing
stream improvement projects, lake and pond building, and developing
our research hatchery geared to producing viable alternatives to
traditional stocking programs.
"For over fifteen years, we have been developing our research hatchery
which offers viable alternatives to traditional stocking programs."
Aquatic Alternatives has been designing and permitting improvement
projects for over fifteen years. We are familiar with the processes
required for improving natural waters on private lands and townships.
We understand the process, from water rights, wetland Delineations,
engineering and design, to permitting through state and federal
regulatory agencies. We have a very good working relationship with
regulatory agencies and open lines of communication to obtain a permit
with a minimum of time and energy.
